2016 marks the 50th anniversary of Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. (SCC).

As a not for profit organisation, Southern Cross Homes was created by a group of men from the Order of the Knights of the Southern Cross in 1966 who shared a common desire to improve the lives of frail and vulnerable people in Western Australia.

Today, Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. continues to support the complex and changing needs of West Australians, in particular those with complex chronic health conditions, access a choice of quality care, health and lifestyle services within a variety of community settings.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary, a Mass was held at St Mary’s Cathedral on the evening of Thursday 21st July.  The Mass, which was led by Emeritus Archbishop Hickey, was attended by Ken Wyatt MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Knights of the Southern Cross, present and past board members, staff, volunteers, family and friends.  The event was a celebration of the achievements and efforts of all who tirelessly contribute to helping the frail and vulnerable achieve a better quality of life.

Errol Turner, CEO of SCC said the 50th anniversary of care delivery to over 3000 West Australians has been achieved through the support, loyalty and hard work from the Board, members of the Knights of the Southern Cross, staff and volunteers.

“The 50th anniversary celebrations are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the commitment and dedication of those both past and present, who have contributed to the success of Southern Cross Care throughout the years.

“On behalf of The Knights of the Southern Cross and the Board of SCC, I would like thank all of these important people for their tireless efforts to enhance the quality of life of people in Western Australia”.
