Transition of Pilbara Services to Silver Chain

On 1 January 2015, not-for-profit organisation, Silver Chain, will assume operational responsibility from Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. for the provision of community health and care services in Port Hedland, Dampier, Karratha, Roebourne, Point Samson and Wickham.

Services in the Pilbara region that will operate under Silver Chain include Home Care Packages, Home and Community Care, Mental Health and Respite for Carers.

Silver Chain and Southern Cross Care have been working together with over the past few months to ensure a seamless transfer of care services for clients and staff across the Pilbara.

General Manager, Country Services, Carole Bain, said Silver Chain is pleased to have commenced providing services in the Pilbara region and looks forward to delivering sustainable regional based care in collaboration with local service providers and the Pilbara community.

"It makes perfect sense for Silver Chain to be a provider of community health and care services in the Pilbara region. There is strong alignment with our existing profile of services and our commitment to rural and remote service provision throughout Australia," Carole said.

"The transition to Silver Chain has been a smooth process for both our clients and staff. Maintaining continuity of care and upholding service delivery levels is our first and foremost priority.
