Respite Services

Southern Cross Care has specifically developed services to support family members in their care for their loved ones, or sometimes transition into a care facility.  We provide short-term respite in our Respite Centres or short-term or longer-term respite in our Care Facilities

Day and Overnight Respite

Providing a valuable support to carers of the elderly, Southern Cross Care’s respite centres have been specifically designed as an alternative to traditional day centres by creating a home away from home which is warm, comfortable and welcoming. Our services can be used as a once-off service or on a regular basis.

In providing a caring, supportive environment to those who use our respite services we design our programs tailored to meet our clients’ needs. Our activities programs include an array of choice, including gardening, cooking, crafts, social discussions, singing, music, outings, concerts, light exercise and more.

Respite Services in Care Facilities

Respite in Southern Cross Care’s care facilities can be as short as one day and up to many weeks, providing peace of mind for carers. The respite services Southern Cross Care provides can offer an extended period of support by providing the personal care, dietary, social and other supports for the aged.  It can also provide the care recipient and family member with an important step into placement in a care facility.

The services Southern Cross Care provides to respite recipients is based on their care needs, which are assessed prior to entry.

Visit our Care Facilities page for more information about our care facilities in your area.

An ACAT assessment is required for entry into any care facility, including for respite.
