October is a significant month for mental health awareness, with the celebration of WA Mental Health Week from 5 to 12 October, including World Mental Health Day on 10 October.
At Southern Cross Care (WA) (SCC (WA)), we understand the importance of mental health and the role it plays in our overall well-being. That’s why we’re excited to join this nationwide observance and bring awareness to this critical issue that touches so many lives.
The theme for Mental Health Week 2024 is “Empowering communities, thriving workforces: a journey towards investing in our mental health”, which explores the supports in our communities that help people who’ve experienced mental illness to empower themselves to take charge of their mental health within their everyday lives.
Starting on 8 October, we’re hosting a ‘Community Options Open Day’ at our mental health home in Mt Claremont. This event will be an opportunity to meet the team and learn about the mental health support that Southern Cross Care (WA) provides. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy a delicious morning tea!
On 11 October, we’re inviting everyone to our ‘Client Community Expo’ at the Centenary Community Centre in Belmont. Hosted by our clients, this expo will feature art and craft stalls, interactive wellness activities and games, tasty treats and raffles.
These events are part of our ongoing commitment to support the mental well-being of individuals and their families in our community.
